Walk right in, it's around the back
May. 9th, 2006 03:23 pmOn this night in 1671, Captain (Thomas) Blood tried to steal the Crown Jewels from the Tower of London. Disguised as a priest, he managed to convince the Jewel House keeper to hand over his pistols. One of Captain Blood's accomplices shoved the Royal Orb down his breeches. Blood flattened the crown with a mallet and tried to run off with it, but he and his partners in crime were caught in the act. King Charles was so impressed with Blood's audacity that he pardoned him, restored his estates in Ireland, and gave him an annual pension of five hundred pounds.
This certainly nudges me toward wanting to run more 7th Sea. (: However, I'm currently being inspired by watching 'Supernatural' to want to run a modern day occult game and revive the After Midnight Detective Agency. (Maybe I just miss playing a tiny Indian woman with a motorbike.)
This weekend I finally got to visit Miss Friday, which was wonderful. She made me go to the bookstore and buy books, which was cruel of her (and I got a sighting of Miss Kit's brand new book, Firebird Deception so it wasn't all opression), but then she took me up to the mountains to escape the heated suck of the city, and we sat on the flooded banks of the Kern and watched the water go by.
Then we vegged and watched a lot of Sports Night before I was introduced to Basque cuisine and my first taste of tongue. Cow tongue at least. The experience was pleasant and I have made a note that it should be repeated.
Yesterday the flight home was as uneventful as the flight out, and I got myself tidied up for lunch with Cindy. Afterwards I really had planned to go grocery shopping but all I wanted to do was go home and curl up on the couch. I was a little shy on sleep, and this morning it occurred to me that I also had been off the breathing apparatus the night before which may also have lent itself to my fatigue levels. Regardless, I went home and promised myself that I'd run to the store before work sometime this week (which I believed because I'm a sucker) and watched a lot of television, including much Gilmore Girls and Supernatural. Both series are pleasing me right now, and I'm looking forward to season finales on each. I also got to see Robot Chicken and Venture Brothers and South Park episodes that I hadn't seen before, and liked them too. Yay for television that doesn't suck.
This morning I plowed through about 50 tracks on an mp3 CD and prepared them for stowage on the hard drive, so that felt productive. And... oh. Quick aside: last week I got a note from my doctor that my yearly STD test was clean, but that she didn't like my cholesterol or glucose levels so I should repeat the fasting blood test in a couple of months and in the meantime I should eat a low fat low carb diet. Now, I admit that I'm not working too hard on my diet. And there's a reason. I've cut out caffeine (except as a self-medicating thing) and cut way down on the high fructose corn syrup. Doing more to my diet begins to feel like work. And I apparently don't think that my long term health is worth the effort. I don't really *want* to do any more because it's hard. But I did make an omelette this morning with only egg whites. And I'm back to buying the nonfat yoghurt.

If the intro setup starts looking frustrating, don't sweat it. You can always go back and change your answers later. I think it's only 4-6 screens total.
