Things that are making me happier today:

Glenn Gould doing the Goldberg Variations
I own a version of the Variations being done on a specially created guitar, which also pleases me greatly (I like the idea of this guy being a big enough freak to say 'Make me a guitar so I can play the GV on it') but I like Glenn Gould. I like him humming along as he plays. It's unprofessional, but if I were a grand master I'd totally do that. And this CD is *all one track* which I don't think I like but I laughed when I realized it.

It's raining
Caveat: I'm not at work. And I got to sit in the car outside the library and listen to it rain. And sit in the window at the library and watch it rain. And then come home and sit next to the open patio door and clear off TiVo while it rained.

Sam and Dave
This album I used to have on tape, and I finally found a copy of it on CD, also while I was at the library. Sam and Dave are the band that they styled the Swanky Modes after in the film Tapeheads. You probably know them for 'Soul Man' but they're a treasure.

Pizza Hut
I caved, after eating fresh vegetables and healthy shit all week, and said I need cheese, and I need tomato sauce, and I need fat. Stuffed crust, man. Stuffed. Crust.

Baseketball
I just found out, a little while ago, that this was a Zucker film (Zucker Abrams Zucker are the team behind the Airplane and Police Squad films) and not a Stone/Parker film, which I'd originally thought. It was funnier than I'd expected--it was uneven, but it was funny often enough to make it worthwhile.

Tito Puente
He really is the Mambo King. Also, it means I'm almost done with the 'P' section of the CD collection and ready to move on. Ramones, I'm coming up fast.

People with Too Much Time on Their Hands
Earlier today, while trying to find liner art for the 'Caliente' CDs, I stumbled across a website with pages of thumbnails of various condiment packages from fast food restaurants, including the hot sauce page, which had the McDonalds chili and garlic sauce and many of the new Taco Bell sauce packets with catchy (or, oftentimes, disturbing) slogans on them. Of course, I can no longer find that site to point you toward it, but nonetheless it was heartwarming.

I remember Woody Allen saying once about some uncultured guy in a movie, "He probably thinks the Goldberg Variations are something the Goldbergs do to spice up their saturday nights."
I still don't know what the Goldberg Variations are..

I loves me the Wikipedia.
Although the story may be anecdotal, it is generally thought that Bach was engaged by a Germanic Count (named Keyserlingk) to write a set of musical variations on a theme for harpsichord. They eventually were named after the Count's musician, Johann Goldberg, who was also a student of Bach's.
So now you know. And knowing... Is half the battle! (GO JOE!)

You are right. That is definitely someone with too much time on their hands!

And your icon makes me laugh hysterically.

Yes! That's the one! I don't know how you found it, cuz I sure as hell couldn't. (:

My google-fu is strong!

I think I started with 'Caliente art' (since I figured that's where you had started) and added from there.
