More substantial update.
Thank you to the smart people who said Don't spend that $3000 the gummint sent you. On Saturday they sent me a note saying they want it back.
Now that it has been gifted, I can post the new mix disc, which was Ellie's birthday present. Thanks to those who helped me assemble it.
Recovering from the music library cataclysm which I am blaming on 06/6/2006, that most evil of days on which the Beast and His Armies Rise From the Pit and Make War Against God.
Which segues into: Mini-Review, "Doctor Who:Impossible Planet" and "Doctor Who:Satan Pit". Feckin great. This restored all the Doctor Floon that the Idiot Lantern siphoned off. The pacing was exciting, the tension was palpable, the incidental music was creepy. The Doctor has some of his know-it-all threatened and eventually manages to ignore the challenge. Humans are resourceful and act in a useful fashion despite the fact that the Doctor isn't there to tell them what to do. The acting was top-notch BBC scifi cheese--well aged and sharp. Some really touching moments between supporting characters, who all too often get short shrift from script writers who have too many other things to do. In fact, that may have been one of the lynch pins to this episode...
My friend Miss Friday is taking a hard and not comfortable path, but I hope it is one that will lead to growth and enrichment. So I admire and support her.
Okay, I said 'more' substantial. I didn't say 'substantially more'.
