Wow. JimWeasel or Mel or somebody correct me if I'm wrong but it looks like Arizona has their primary less than two months before the general election. And considering that California just had theirs, I found that really surprizing.

Yep, the primary is 2 months before the general election. The theory is to limit the amount of time people have to deal with election ads and such. Practice is that, before the primaries, everyone is fighting againast everyone (regardless of party), and the general election is less up for grabs. Also, as there's a pool of money for the primaries and a separate pool for the general, a LOT more can get spent per day in th general if there's only 60 days to spend it.
