It's hip to be square?

cyranoSo the front page of the Daily Commie Liberal Rag today had an article proclaiming that 'beauties seem drawn to geeks'. Their justification, which they say 'is pretty compelling', is this: Jennifer Aniston is dating Vincent Vaughn. Heather Locklear is dating David Spade. Jenny McCarthy is rumored to be dating Jim Carrey. Kirsten Dunst might sort of be dating Andy Samberg.
I've never heard of Andy Samberg. He might actually be a geek. But the other three, to whom the article refers as a 'galoot', a 'dork' and a 'knockabout funnyman', do not strike me as strong entries in the Geek category. This, of course, is secondary to the idea that four celebrity data points construe a sweeping new worldwide trend.
Now, if Salma Hayek starts dating Stephen Hawking, or Alison Hannigan were to start dating me....
