Okay, this question is definitely Hanso dynasty, and these crenellations--see those?--they mean it's a pretty old question. You don't see too many of these any more, and although they're not as popular they're still sturdy and well made. The condition is pretty good, and without this chip--this one right here--I'd say it was worth two or three thousand, easy. But even so, you're still looking at... I'd say fifteen hundred.

I only half listened. They had gotten on to the subject of cooking in college dorms and, hence, ramen. The Head Master (see below) comes in and says that he ate the stuff raw as he never figured out how to cook it and walked out. I heard this as I was reading your Friday question call, so thus I sought out the Oracle.

And no, I mostly do Friday questions just so I have something to do while I'm at work. There are days when something to do is not neccessary, but it's a good back up. I use icons, generally, in place of the 'current mood' field, or as some sort of commentary on the subject matter. F'rinstance, I have the Wile E with a napkin for matters of yummy import, and I have the tired coyote icon for when I'm... tired. I can also use the smoking Wile E or the canyon wall with the coyote-shaped hole in it, depending on the quality of the tiredness. I have the leapsheep icon or the Uncle Scar icon or the Pentium icon for when I'm feeling puckish. And for matters of music, there are the Haring icons with the coyote DJ or the coyote dancing, or the iYote icon.

Why do you think Nabokov wrote Lolita? It wasn't his only book about a pedophile. Can Nabokov still be considered a Russian novelist even though his most famous work was written in English?

Much like the Shakespeare question, I think it's irrelevant whether Nabokov wrote the work or not--it should be able to stand on its own as a literary work. At the moment, it seems most convenient to assume he did, however.
And does 'Lolita' have the important elements that we consider basic requirements in Russian Literature?
Does everyone drink vodka?
At the end of the story is everyone either dead or miserable?
Is the book at least 2000 pages long and not a car chase to be seen?
Do the characters' names end in -ski or -ov?
Herein, I believe is where we can define just how 'Russian' Nabokov is, compared to Tolstoi, Dostoyevski and Chekhov.

It is a short novel, but people are certainly miserable in it. The names aren't all crazy, as the book takes place in the US. I don't recall any car chases, although I believe a dog is run over by a car at one point.

I didn't see pink in the feminine hygiene aisle. They were in greens, whites, and blues.

Generally, tampons are not packaged in colours--they're packaged in boxes. I find this makes them far easier to store and approve of this marketing choice. However, I could understand a marketer going for greens blues and whites--colours which imply freshness and cleanness--as opposed to pink which perhaps suggests too strongly the sanguine nature of the product after use.
And I feel silly generally, so hanging out in the feminine hygiene aisle mostly allows me to exploit the embarrassment of others who are passing through.
(As to the subject line, I'm hoping I don't run out of song lyrics that are questions for my Friday sessions any time in the near future.)
