Because it's Friday. Don't be shy. Step up to the microphone. Yes, it's on. Go ahead. Ask me.

Ah ah ah, baby. Throat first--the wolf got wise after the first few times.
(Actually, I was a geeky Shakespearean scholar at the time when I first heard the album, and so I always saw him as Henry V, some other Lancastrian sort of character.)

Is Jim Steinman the best lyricist of all time despite or because of his contribution to the anthology of air supply with Making Love Out of Nothing at ALL?

I admit without reservation that the lyrics for that song are well crafted, and as far as treacly soft rock goes it is a well crafted song.
The student is left to solve the exercize.

Why is there nothing but pleasant haze in my skull today?

Date: 2006-11-10 11:43 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] cyranocyrano.livejournal.com
(from Wikipedia)
Haze is an atmospheric phenomenon where dust, smoke and other pollutant particles obscure the normal clarity of the sky. It occurs when dust and smoke particles accumulate in relatively dry air.
While haze is formed in relatively dryish air, in more humid air mist is formed, and the haze particles can even act as condensation nuclei for the mist droplets.

Thus I must conclude (having recently visited and ascertained the relative lack of humidity in the area) that there was some sort of pleasant smoke or dust in your head recently, and skullular weather conditions have prevented it from dispersing through normal means.

Is "clusterfuck" too harsh a word to describe yesterday's 7am-to-2am workday with a break for dinner and hockey practice?

Date: 2006-11-10 11:45 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] cyranocyrano.livejournal.com
I cannot speak to the harshness, but I do feel that it is an inappropriate choice. "Clusterfuck" indicates a concatenation of error, mishap, misplanning and miscommunication. I am assuming that there was a plan to go to work, to dinner, and to hockey practice, so much of the day's activity would tend to fall under something more like "A run through the hottest and rockiest part of Hell, naked save for an ill-fitting jockstrap".

Just how awesome is Senator Barack Obama? I think his awesomeness is immeasurable.

On the flip side, what's it like having Arnold as your governor? (I think you and I have the two governors with the most difficult to spell last names - mine is Blagojevich.)

I think Barack Obama is well on his way to becoming a very skilled politician. Which is unfortunate, because he had great potential to be an amazing human being, and the two qualities do not often co-exist.
And if the Gubernator has actually learned a lesson about bipartisanship, then I think this next term might actually be productive. If he was just putting on a show after the Special-Election spanking and before the election, then we're screwed for a while.

Why do retail stores insist upon keeping the store temperature so low?

Ummm. Because it's the middle of the wild prairie and November so everything's cold?
Personally, it takes a lot to make me cold so I likely wouldn't notice.

How do you make scrambled eggs? I really want some but my mom is being a bitch and won't make them for me.

How do *I* make scrambled eggs? I turn the burner on to medium, put a frying pan on and swab it lightly with peanut oil. Then I take three eggs, crack them one by one over a small bowl, cradle the yolk from shell to shell until all the albumen (egg white) is in the bowl and just the yolk is in the shell, and dump the yolk into the disposal. I add just a little bit of milk and black pepper to the bowl (like a tablespoon or two of milk), and then once the oil is hot I pour the bowl into the frying pan. Once the clear albumen starts to show white where it's been cooked, I take a spatula and start to chop and turn the eggs. My big thing here is to keep the egg from sticking to the pan, and in the process the egg usually takes care of the getting cooked part. Then I turn off the burner and scrape the egg onto a plate. If it's for a younger relative, I garnish it with catsup. Then I serve.
Now I'm hungry.

For whole eggs: Use a 1 egg to 1 tablespoon milk proportion.

Very Important: Remove eggs from heat right before you think they are done! Residual heat will quickly over cook them otherwise.

Would you want to add more milk with the yolk removal program, do you suppose? Since I'm using skim milk it's not like I'm replacing any of the fat...

Your voice is under the couch. But it's very very shy. If you were to lie on the couch for a couple of days, rather quietly, it might come out and you could snatch it up. Watch a few movies, drink lots of water, make yourself comfortable.
