In honor of Windrose's short story submission, this week's IFAMAQ will have a literary option: You may ask me a question as a character in any novel (although the answer will be probably better if I've read the novel in question) and I shall attempt to answer in as fine a form as I can manage.

Traditional 'ask me a question' questions are of course still welcome.

Now that I know I get the shit job assignment at South next year, should I beg my bosses at North for more hours next year? If yes, how should I go about doing this in a seemly manner?

Definitely.
I'd start by talking about how much you feel you've learned this year at North, and indicate your appreciation for those involved. From there you can move to asking if there are more duties you can assume, so as to become more involved in the school's community, and thence to controlling the entire campus with an army of genetically modified baboons.
