Apparently the 3 July show is a live music burlesque and comedy show. The DNA Lounge sometimes has VIP table service. I do not know how exorbitant the price tag, but I am tempted. Thus I would have room at the table for five of my best (or most scantily clad) friends to join me and bask in the aura of my VIPness. And also a bottle of high quality spirits.

Ah - I wasn't sure which show you were talking about. You know, I'm going to be in town that evening, and I've heard a lot about Lee Press-On from you and from

missmorte (one would imagine she'd be there too, given that she's his gf, and I need to actually meet her one of these years). I would certainly entertain the idea of attending that show, VIP or no.

While I'd be happy to bask in your VIPness in appropriately scanty clothing, I'd have to give the "inner circle" thing a little bit more thought. I do enjoy swing, though I'm not familiar with Lee Press-On; burlesque, like any art form, can be either very awful or very clever, depending on who's doing it (but the liberal application of booze and nekked folks tends to make it hilarious anyway). So what unique advantages does this "inner circle" provide, and what are the criteria for joining? ;)

Lee Press-On: My standard one-line description is "What if Trent Reznor were born in 1920?"
They do a swing cover of "Hot for Teacher" as well as classics like "Cocktails for Two" and the "Powerhouse" theme from WB cartoons. I ought to introduce you to them even if you don't join my inner circle.

Most of the advantages are that you get to bask in my birthday glory, and share in my company while at an obviously special table where you will be the envy of the hoi polloi and get to drink high quality hooch.
And one of the trickiest criteria, I suspect, for you, will be 'being in San Francisco on 3 July'. Because most of the time I don't have an inner circle, I just encourage people to dress scantily and bask near me.
