You can sleep while I drive
Mar. 12th, 2001 08:31 pmI had planned to take a shower this morning. I truly had. The DSL installation was set for eight, and I didn't need to be in San Jose at the temp agency until eleven.
I soon discovered that I should apply for work as a DSL installer since it obviously takes no previous experience, or sense of direction. We were at the top of his work list, and he was two hours late. He then proceeded to take ninety minutes to perform the installation, insisting that I had to call in and change our listed voice phone number (which PacBell still thought was the number they'd given us and taken away because it already belonged to somebody else four weeks ago)(which he expected would take three days) before he could do anything about installing the service.
So as it was I barely made it to this new job, and also discovered the name of the place and its location just before I got there. And once I'd been there for an hour, I found what hours they wanted me to work. Swing weekends. Which means I would never see anybody socially ever again, and I'd forfeit the Pirate Cruise money because I couldn't go, and miss Neil's game which would probably cause him to drop a yak on me.
So I came home nearly frothing. I've had lots of Indian food and watched Megs play video games and say 'Fruitbat!' a few times in most joyous tones, so I'm a bit calmer, but still not happy.

Driving Miss Daisy
Date: 2001-03-13 11:22 pm (UTC)But there's a pretty decent public transportation system between San Jose and San Francisco.
Light Rail to CalTrain, and a total of about six blocks walking at either end between home and this office. Too bad I can't work there. q:
