So I appear to have a working prototype for That Western mix. After reading this post discussing the western, I decided to make it less about the West itself and instead focus on people's perceptions of it. I'm calling it "Once Upon A Time In America," at least for now.

Since I forgot Top of the Pops this week, I hope my fans will accept this as my humble apology.

Kingdom's Coming--Jay Ungar, from Ken Burns' "Civil War"
The Mock Glory of the West--John Playford (English Court music, but the name meant it totally had to go in here.)
Big Bar Fight--Greg Edmunson, from Joss Whedon's "Firefly"
The Fox--Her Ladyship Qada'an Nachin
Chickies in the House--Alexander James Adams
Sitting on Top of the World--Sunday's Well
Ghost of Stephen Foster--Squirrel Nut Zippers (You know. Stephen Fucking Foster?)
Le Pistole Non Discutono--Ennio Morricone
Desperado--The Eagles
West End Girls--3D Picnic
Ghost Riders in the Sky--Johnny Cash
The Next Best Western--Richard Shindell
Western Stars--kd lang
Bar Fight--Los Lobos, from Steven Rodriguez' "Desperado"

Ghost of a Texas Ladies' Man--Concrete Blonde

Do you have / want that Tombstone soundbite? I also have Quick & the Dead and Young Guns, if you want clips from either of those.

I have a couple of Tombstone soundbites (from the Val Kilmer Doc Holliday one), and I'm using "I have two guns" and "If I thought you weren't my friend I could not bear it" as well as the "How can you shame me in front of new people?" bit from Firefly. But I'm always willing to add more nuggets to my collection.

Top of the Pops is, every Monday I post the ten songs at the top of my iTunes random shuffle thingie. You are occasionally on it, my dear, because I got my hands on some recordings of you singing. (:

I'd say it serves you right for letting me know they existed. (: Now I can have you perform a bardic ritual for me any time I want.

Not for this mix, no. However, you should consider coming to the DNA on Tuesday night to see Lee and the burlesque show.
