Home. Tired. I managed to get up to Borderlands to see Emma and Will's reading. 280 to Millbrae and then BART to the City. To thank Borderlands I bought two new Christopher Moore books. To thank Will and Emma I bought a Flash Girls CD and a copy of Territory.
Emma played cowboy music, then they read from their new books and took questions from the audience. Nobody asked 'Where do you get your ideas from?' We talked about "Under the Cherry Moon," frostbite, and all sorts of things. And then they signed things.
Since I was technically three people, I got in line last. (Although later the guy with the handtruck full of books lined up after me.) And I said Aelf says hi, and she misses you and here's the CD from her. And here's the CD from me, and here's two other CDs from me which I was going to give you before. And WindRose says where is the next book Emma dammit. I threatened to buy a copy of Moore's "Dirty Job" for Will right there and then. And then I got invited to go across the street and go drinking after the handtruck of books had all been signed.
I met Jude, one of the store employees, who hates it when people abuse apostrophes and quotation marks and also doesn't get the 'autograph thing'. So I fell in love and asked her out to coffee. I am not allowed to take her to coffee, but I am allowed to bring her tea sometime.
While waiting for the signing to finish up, I felt like I recognized one of the other people waiting around and introduced myself. It turned out that the reason was because she was Ellen Klages, a local writer. So I went drinking with Will and Emma and Ellen Klages and quite possibly everybody else at the table was a writer, but Gordon had a card that identified him as working at Sun, so he lent the table at least a modicum of legitimacy. It was dark and noisy, much like a bar, but it claimed to be an Irish pub. I ordered a margarita, and I can only assume that since it was in Irish pub I actually got a Ni'Margareth. Because margaritas don't get served in tumblers and at least some of the salt is inside the glass. (I suppose it's a good thing they were out of mint because I can only imagine what an O'Jito would have been like.)
Anyway. A table full of good people, and a hell of a lot of walking. I was tempted to call RoisNoir to see if I could crash with her and then call in late to work, but responsibility got the best of me. I'll probably revisit that decision in the morning.

You could have... there's a whole empty room. (Which *my* room is not, but that'll hopefully change soon.)

Ironically? I couldn't get to sleep and it looks like I'm not going to work anyway.

heh.

Though it would mean that *I* had gotten insufficient sleep, and would be laggy today, too.

(But, you know, shared misery and all that...)
