Semi-related story: When I was in second grade (at Catholic school) we learned about the water cycle by watching a Bill Nye video. (Then again, Catholics usually aren't quite as far off the deep end as Waco. Well, if we exclude Mel Gibson.)
Given what I know about Texas education law, I am completely unsurprised. All any child needs to know in Texas, according to state law, are the following two things: 1) basic math and 2) the Texas oath of allegience.
Notice that reading and science are NOT on the list. Notice that quite a lot of morons come for Texas. Coincidence? I think not.
