Posty McPostsALot IV: The Postening
Sep. 27th, 2007 04:32 pmThis post is sponsored by the lovely Moonlight'n'Rain.
Comment in this post and I will choose seven of your interests I would like you to explain more clearly in your journal.
Boiled in Lead: One of my first exposures to 'Celt Rock'. Except it's more Irish than Celtic. Except it's also klezmer, middle eastern, and a whole bunch of other stuff. I don't *think* they've done flamenco yet. They've more or less broken up, but I think they still do a St. Patrick's Day show in Minneapolis every year.
Geronimo Jackson: The fictitious '70s band from Lost. I mostly put them in here to improve my geek cred.
Bosch: Hieronymous Bosch, not Carl Bosch, Francisco Bosch, or Tertius Bosch the cricket player.
A Dutch artist from the fifteenth century, whose works center around demons, judgement, hell, sin, and often looked a lot like a fever dream.
Oz Squad: A comic series from an indie press back in the nineties that centered around Dorothy, the Cowardly Lion, Hungry Tiger, Nick Chopper, the Winkies, etc etc. It often looked a lot like a fever dream.
Pachuco suits: Better known these days as Zoot suits, they were part of a young punk hispanic culture that grew up in the Southwest during the thirties and forties. During World War Two, production went down significantly because they used so much fabric. Wearing one makes you feel cool.
Ike Broflovski: Ike is Kyle's adopted Canadian younger brother on South Park. Don't kick the god damn baby. Ike is the coolest thing about South Park, which is why he doesn't get much screen time any more.
Gir: Gir is Invader Zim's broken robot assistant in his task to conquer the earth. However, he would far rather eat taquitos and watch the Scary Monkey show than conquer the earth, and is easily distracted plus pretty much completely insane.
