Would you like to swing on a star?
Feb. 15th, 2008 09:23 amSpecial edition IFAMAQD!
The more astute of you may have noticed that, although usually my LJ posts are titled with song lyrics, the IFAMAQD posts are titled with song lyric questions. See what I just did there?
Back in the long ago, I had a file of questions I'd found in song lyrics. Every week I'd choose one, delete it from the list and add it to the post.
It appears that this file has gone missing. I'm trying to reconstruct it--initial attempts include a wildcard search for '?' in my iTunes, which has had limited success in at least catching songs with question titles. However, not all record producers are as fastidious as I in their punctuation. Today's title, for instance, came with no question mark, nor did 'Are you gonna go my way?' despite its clearly being a question. And, of course, that doesn't catch questions from the actual lyrics, like "Do you cry out in your sleep?" from Joy Division's Love Will Tear Us Apart.
I figure this will slow the usual flood of questions, but I would like you to include a lyrical question today (or lots of them) so I can start rebuilding that file. Hell, if I'm feeling puckish, I may even answer the lyrical question.

Date: 2008-02-15 08:17 pm (UTC)What is love?
Sinnerman, where you gon' run to?
Who holds the riches, the jester or the king?
Where's yer troosers?
What's a sweetheart like you doin' in a dump like this?
What would have been so terrible if I'd had a small fortune?
(Alternately: Would it spoil some vast, eternal plan if I were a wealthy man?)
Why you gotta give me the run-around? Is it a sure-fire way to speed things up, when all it does is slow me down?
What happened to her plan?
Who's the other guy that's singin' in Van Halen?
When did reality become T.V.?
Whatever happened to sitcoms and game shows?
WHen did Motley Crüe become classic rock?
When did Ozzy become an actor?
Don't you me, Kansas City? I'm the new Berlin Wall!
You wanna to tear me down?
Baby, do you understand me now?
Don't you know that no one alive can always be an angel, when things go wrong or seem to be bad?
Whaddaya want me to do, slit my wrists?
Does it have to be human?
Does it have to be mine?
How am I supposed to keep on feeding you, kill people?
You think this all a coincidence, baby?
Does this look inanimate to you, punk?!
If I can talk, and I can move, who's to say I can't do anything I want?
Would you like a Cadillac car?
Or a guest shot on Jack Parr?
How about a date with Hettie Lamarr?
How'd you like to be a big wheel, dinin' out for every meal?
Should I go and perform mutilations?
Come on kid, what'll it be?
Money? Girls? One particular girl?
How'd you like a room at the Ritz?
What did Louis say to Clark, when everything looked bleak?
What did Sir Edmund say to Tenzing, as they struggled towards Everest Peak?
What did Washington say to his troops as he crossed the Delaware?
Don't you wanna spread your wings and flap your way to glory?
Don't you realize there's a lot more to you then there is to you?
Who will ignore me when you're gone?
Who will forgive you when I'm gone?
Who will defend you when I'm gone?
I asked him, wait, what's the sense in life?
I shouted out, who killed the Kennedys?
Hey there fella, with the hair coloured yella, what you tryin' to prove?
Won't you gimme three steps towards the door?
