cyrano: (Not what I seem)

Okay, I have a top hat, and I have a cigar. If I were a smart person I would have gotten some make up while I was at Debbi Lynn's to do the skull face.
I suspect I'm going to have to shave to do this--I can't immediately picture Baron Samedi with a beard.

In the pictures I've seen, the only time I see him wearing spectacles or sunglasses it seems it's because the person portraying him wears them. (Wearing glasses would be nice for seeing purposes, but glasses and make up are a disastrous mess.)

Well, Barbara Hambly in her Benjamin January books described the Baron as having them, or being thought by the slave community in the 1830s to have them, and she's usually pretty meticulous about research. Though she admits that so much isn't known about early voodoo. I wonder what her sources were.

I am perfectly open to this suggestion. (: Especially since odds are good I'm going to have to wear my glasses anyway.

I guess you could always wander by her place at [livejournal.com profile] barbara_hambly and ask.

I'd imagine that as bad as glasses and makeup might be, contact lenses and makeup aren't much better. Two great tastes that don't go great together.

I also hates me some contact lenses.
I have issues with sticking things into my eye.
