Our time is running out

The question for the day is: What happened to all my pocketwatches? I had three, none of them running admittedly, and I still have the watch fobs, but I cannot locate any of them.
Possibly related corollary: What happened to all my socks?

Definitely unrelated: When is it going to stop being so hot? "September" is not an acceptable answer and will receive no points.

Clearly, your socks and your pocketwatches have been engaging in an illicit affair for years, and have finally run off together. Look for a note somewhere; I'll sure you'll find one. Or a horribly misshapen love child, one of the two.

As for when it will stop being so hot: tomorrow. Well, that's what I keep telling myself, anyway.

Maybe they're like cats, and one of these days you'll find your pocketwatches in a nest in the back of a drawer surrounded by softly ticking sabatons. The socks are gone, though; socks are wanderers.
