So I was going to talk

I could have sworn that I'd read somebody talking about Ron Moore pulling another classic "What the Fuck" moment and people's heads exploding and stuff.
I'm now fairly convinced that I just dreamed that, because... wow. What a mediocre 'who cares' cliffhanger. I realize that nobody promised that the Fifth Cylon would be revealed before the break, but throw me a fuckin' bone here. If your big reveal is 'Earth is a postapocalyptic wasteland' then at least give me a half-buried Statue of Liberty or.... something. I liked the peaceful resolution of the Caprican Standoff, but pretty much the whole episode was a disappointment.
The previous episode, The Hub, at least had some semi-interesting bits about mortality and everything has an end and stuff, but there's been way too much manufactured conflict and... wasted potential.

I'm watching on scifi.com, so I'm not hep to schedule issues. I didn't realize this week's was a hiatus ep. Did they say when it would be back?

Also, I don't know how anyone could have _not_ seen the post-apocalyptic Earth thing coming. God trying to get both the Cylons and the humans to understand what will happen if they continue their warring ways, have to learn to work together, blahblahblah.

With the particular wording they used, I got the impression that the fifth cylon was already on the base star when Deanna went over to Galactica (i.e. Baltar or Pres maybe?).

Um. They may well have said when they'll resume, but given that it took me nearly two weeks to get around to watching this one, it will likely not surprise you that I haven't gone to the website for the latest reports. (:

And yeah, the abrupt switch from talking about 'the Five' to talking about 'the Four' led me to believe that either Deanna had something up her sleeve or the writers just decided that nobody'd notice if we put that revelation off until later. I was just wondering why nobody in the Colonial Fleet said anything.

Between the fact filming got fux0red by the writer's strike, and the SFC's completely insane concept of scheduling, we won't get the second half of the season until January 2009.

They've been using that "everything will be revealed" teaser since back when I was still watching it - long, long ago.

Yes, I always add -- loudly -- "in the last episode which is when you'd expect everything to be revealed".

You should try it. It's fun and cathartic and not at all mocking.

Hm. 2 out of 3 ain't bad.

Since I stopped watching TV altogether about three years ago, I order shows through NetFlix. I just cannot see adding those seasons of BSG to my queue.

I just stopped caring.

I have been enjoying "Rome" though. HBO and the like seem to be producing the best shows.

I will happily admit to being in the minority here and say that I really enjoyed the mid-season finale. I wasn't expecting to have Moore wrap up everything in this ep, indeed I'd have been both shocked and disappointed if he had. There's still half a season left and he's already got us to Earth, revealed all the current models in the fleet (and I believe D'Anna flat out said the fifth isn't there), told us why Starbuck's viper was so damn important, etc., etc.

The big questions remain, who's the fifth, is Laura actually doomed to die or will she manage to beat the cancer again, what the heck is up with Hera and the Sixes, what impact will the fact that cylons can actually interbreed now (i.e. Caprica Six/Tigh) have in the long term, how will the cylon civil war be resolved now that Earth's been found, just what happened to Starbuck during her missing weeks, and of course what the hell is up with Earth.

I've loved the development of the characters, especially letting Lee grow into his own and the relationship between Bill and Laura moving forward. I was a little surprised/disappointed that Kara didn't shoot her useless husband right between the eyes when she found out he was a cylon but I suppose there's still time for that.
