Today I found out that bananas and energy bars (two recent additions to my diet) are both pretty much unforgivably high on the GI/GL scale. Anybody want a box of Powerbars? Cheap.
Yesterday there was a trip to Monterey that involved mojitos and salt water spray. A definite improvement from last week. Hoping the rest of the week makes an attempt to live up to that.

Do you know what traits I should be looking for, as far as identifying which ones I can safely eat?

You'll want ones that balance carbs with protein and fat, higher in fiber, lower in simple sugars. Protein and fat slow absorption of carbs, and the greater the percentage of carbs from fiber, the less impact on blood sugar generally. The kashi ones have ~4g of fiber and ~6g of protein.

BTW as fruits go, berries are low GI.
