Road trip is a lovely thought but unless I learn to hate driving a whole FUCK of a lot less by then, and start making enough money magically to be able to afford to put a car on the road.... I remember the windy I5 by the OrCal border. Ick. And it's possible your lyrics are right--I think that since they already said 'baby' twice before in the lyrics, I was looking for a new word. Plus, it gives the chorus a kind of coquettish teasing quality.
