I stumbled across an LJ profile of somebody I might know in California, and they have three friend-intersections with me. One New Mexico-Pennsylvania person, one Minnesota-Arizona person, and one Ohio-California person. None of the three, I'm fairly certain, know each other.
Weird.

It can be a very small world. I've run into people I know (either directly or tangentially) all over the planet.

It encourages one to be on their best behavior no matter where they are.
