The question for today's IFIAYAQD! really was obvious from the start.

Why's the rum gone?

Ike drowned it all.

Because it is a vile drink that turns even the most respectable men into complete scoundrels. Two: that signal is over a thousand feet high. The entire royal navy is out looking for me, do you think there is even the slightest chance they wont see it?

I mean, because I drank it all. Not sorry!

Hee. Because I needed it:

1. To hold off incipient scurvy
2. To deaden the soul-scarring pain of being alone in a world that doesn't understand me
3. To tranquilise me once I woke up this morning and realized that no, Johnny Depp isn't mine and never will be
4. to replace my blood so the aliens aren't tempted to drink it

Take your pick.

*sobs quietly*

*drinks more*

The rum is a lie.

*clears throat*

When you look for the rum, the rum also looks for you.

Actually, that's not true. I was looking for the rum and it was just sitting there, loitering about with some trampy liqueur, right there in the cabinet. Not looking for me at all. Feckless spirits, rum is, by anyone's account.

Nietzsche knew dick-all about his rum, that's my feeling.

Why are 25,600 jobs from HP gone?

Because, over the past twenty-five years, we've told corporations that they can do whatever they want so long as it makes them money, and then we studiously turned a blind eye to the consequences.

Tech types never thought they'd need a union. But with the current state of affairs in this country, I think it's time for a rebirth of unions.

In this economy however, we have no idea how far this will go. Companies are losing a lot of money. Some will go out of business, (like Sharper Image,) and others will reduce their workforce to a bare minimum.

The only sure thing is that the unemployment rate will rise. That's why I'm worried about my friends. If they lose their jobs like those poor folks at HP I fear they will have a very hard time finding new jobs.
