cyrano: (Not what I seem)
[personal profile] cyrano
I find myself spending too much time and effort keeping up with stuff online. I have a three step program. Step one is to step away from Facebook. My experience with it is that it seems to be Twitter with Applications and Fan Pages. Step two is to step away from OKCupid. The time investment is significant, especially given the minimal results. I'll be back later, when my life is less demanding, and if somebody contacts me directly I'll get email. Step three, if it needs, is a pruning of LJ.

Also, I'm certain I must have a Springsteen fan out there. If you wanted to put together a collection of "My Must-Hear Songs From The Boss" I'd love that.

I found Facebook to be much better to deal with when I stopped checking it directly, and just used an RSS reader for the things I care about (which is status updates and notes; it does suck that each person's notes is a separate RSS feed that has to be subscribed to.)

Of course, this presumes that you have an RSS reader already.

Sure, on it, Re: Springsteen. I'll deliver it when I'm in the Bay Area between April 1 and 5th!

(I really need to cement some plans, but one of the major variables is in flux and should be clearer early next week, I say mysteriously.)

I love "The Boss" Here's some of my favorites, in no particular order:

1. The River
2. Cover Me
3. The Promised Land
4. Darkness On The Edge Of Town.
5. Does This Bus Stop at 82nd Street? (almost anything from "Greetings From Asbury Park is excellent.)
6. Murder Incorporated
7. Lost In The Flood.
8. Thunder Road
9. This Hard Land
10. Blinded By The Light

I could add a few more, but I thought I'd stop at ten.

BTW - I own nearly every Springsteen album ever produced, so no need to make me a mix cd or anything, (although you do make great mix cd's.

I understand. I am trying to find new ways to dip my foot in the digital stream without getting sucked under by the time-wasting undertow. So far I've decided to limit myself to work on my new (and personal) webspace, and micro applications like twitter and facebook status updates (NOT applications).

*hugs* Miss you.

Keep the LJ

I find out what is happening in your life, at least a bit, by reading it once in a while. Love ya

No worries. Pruning means cutting back on the accounts that I read.

Well, there's nothing in my account worth reading, so feel free to ignore me. :)

On Springsteen, I grew up in NJ, and hence overdosed badly on him. I figure that songs I can still stand, must be good under those badly overplayed conditions:

Glory Days
Philadelphia
Born to Run

Yeah, it's the better known stuff, compared to what was recommended above. I also own on Springsteen of my own.

My problem with 'Born to Run' is that I grew up on the Frankie Goes to Hollywood version, and now when I hear Sprinsteen, he sounds tired and slow. And it makes me sad.
