I picked up book five of Runaways as a present to myself for surviving the last drama fest, and as soon as I opened it up I began missing the halcyon days of drama fest.
The artist had changed, drawing the entire crew as amazingly white cartoony "Mary Jane Loves SpiderMan"-esq manga characters, all trapped in a Marvel comics version of One Tree Hill as the writers tried to hook up as many of the characters as possible.

Luckily, it appears to have been a one-shot guest appearance, and things are back to more expected and desired territory in the next episode.

Same artist as MJLSM. Back off and on throughout the series, but it is mostly Alphona. Also, what "writers"?

Uh. Further research indicates that it's just Brian K. Vaughan. But I'm going to pretend there was some sort of alien brain parasite or Assistant Editors' Month or something involved. (:

Yeah, I don't think there are other writers on the main serious until Whedon takes over. Artists are a little more variable, but that's a pretty major run for a single creative team on a Marvel book these days.
