Well, it's just that if I'm in an existential funk over forty, imagine what it'll be like when I'm four hundred.

Hopefully by 400 you'd have figured out that it's just a number, and has no more significance than any other number.

It's not the number--it's the position. I mean, when I get to be 400, and I can reasonably hope to live to be 15,000, I look back at what I've accomplished, what I haven't, and there's no longer the sense that I had at fifteen that there was all the time in the world. But there isn't--there's only 14,600 years.
