OK, so, the thing is, I was in the play around ten years ago (I was, er, George, a character so boring I had to go look up the name), and after sitting through performance after performance and reading the script over and over, my wife (who agreed to stage manage) and I were all too aware of many of the flaws, a lot of them having to do with sexism.
On the other hand, Grant and Stewart and Hepburn are so delightful in the movie that they pretty much make up for most of that, don't they?
Yes, it is a sexist production. I can allow for some of that as 'a product of its time', but it's definitely there, even if you only see it every six months or so. But they're so good together, all three of them, and I honestly love Dinah, and the dialogue just sparkles.
