Weakened to my knees
Jul. 24th, 2009 07:39 amMatt Nathanson loves to give concerts. And we love to be there when he does.
I nearly washed my hands of it, after several additional complications threw themselves at me, but ImaginaryJakeJr was waiting for me and I didn't want to let her down. Miggs was a perfectly serviceable opening band, and they were pretty good at working the crowd. MN did a lot of the 'new' album, but there were some lovely chestnuts. We got to sing 'Laid', 'Jesse's Girl', and 'Blister in the Sun' as raucously as we could manage. We had to do the chorus on JG a few times before he declared us properly Rock And Roll. His patter was charming and he was adorably dorkulous--in the first ten minutes he'd referenced our Inner Miley Cyrus, the Backstreet Boys, and Eminem. Alas, he did not play any of JakeJr's favorite songs. Nor did he perform my current favorite. But he closed with 'Little Victories' which is my second favorite, and an anthem to bull headedness.
