I've just finished watching the thirteen episode run of Kings, and it's made me want to watch Deadwood and at the same time crack open the Old Testament again.

I'm very curious as to whether the Christian community embraced this series (sort of a weekly small screen "Last Temptation of Christ") or ignored it as another Hollywood perversion. Does anybody know?

I am not plugged in to that scene, so I wouldn't know.

But I would guess that even though God is "real" in the show, given the questionable morality of almost every single character and the complete lack of Jesus, I'd doubt it's a popular hit with the churchies. It's no "Seventh Heaven".

See, that's the problem, I guess. I think a lot of the stuff that's actually **in** the Bible is pretty cool. In high school I took a Bible as Lit course. But many of the Christians I've spoken with don't seem to actually have any idea what's in there.

So I did a quick google, and the top hits seem to be along these lines: "Hey, a show based on the Bible, great....wait...what? OMG THE GAY. Hell and damnation on them all!!!!"

Oh man. Of course, the gay. Which I had forgotten about since it's kind of understated and handled in a less than sensational way.
