Late night showing of Ponyo. The art was pretty. The movie was amusing. But most Miyazaki films I've seen rank higher.

I saw the trailer and was ... underwhelmed. Which is sad, but not even Miyazaki can be perfect all the time.

I'm afraid I'm not the Miyazaki fan some of my friends are. I don't get into the magical wondrous headspace when I see the films, and I don't know why. But this one was about what I expected. Better than Mononoke Hime, not as good as Spirited Away.
