I hear about how dance clubs are these synergistic collections of energy, people coming together and spontaneously generating fun and excitement, euphoria contained within concrete walls and colored by strobes and disco balls.
And I'm jealous. Because I'm not sure I ever feel more alone than when I'm at a club.
Maybe I just went to the wrong ones.

i wonder what it would be like to learn sign, and go in with earplugs with a bunch of friends who sign

From my limited experience? It's really helpful. (I'm old, so I always wore earplugs. I didn't hear any less but I was far more comfortable.) I also tried to get the guys on the tarmac at the airport to learn a little, but they preferred hooting, pointing, and waving.
