So I'd been looking funny at my syllabus because I was seeing some things that didn't add up. And today I finally realised why: because I'd somehow linked to the wrong class syllabus. I was there in time for the World History 4A midterm instead of the US History 17A midterm.
Luckily, this was not one of my dreams. I was not naked, and the instructor was the same for both classes, and she told me that the US History midterm was the next hour.
So Amanda and I went and got Panda Express Orange Chicken (which really used to be more crack filled) and a bottle of Orange Chicken Sauce, and I went back in an hour to take my midterm. Ten minutes later, I was done. Fifty multiple choice questions, and I smoked at least 47 of them. Possibly all of them, fingers crossed.

Drew Barrymore has made a fine film with Whip It. A lot of the 'coming of age sports related must choose between mom's desires and my own' tropes are here, but they feel a lot more comfortable than usual. Two of my favorite tropes that are more honored in the breach than the observance? The 'girl must end the film with a true love' one. I was really pleased how this worked out--uncertain and not together but with the chance of reconcilliation. And also the 'Bad News Bears climb from the bottom of the league to win the world championship in one season' one. They got motivated, they played their asses off, and they were a threat. But a rookie with raw talent is sometimes not good enough to beat a veteran with wily tactics and a sharp elbow. It's great to see how much Ellen Page's acting has improved in the short time since Juno. Juliette Lewis makes a great evil nemesis. And this is a film directed by a girl--there's nobody that everybody hates. Everybody is, on some level, civil or even friendly (if in a competitive way) at the end of the film. The soundtrack is interesting, with the first half all retro '80s, the second half all indiefolk, and somebody rapping over the title theme to Shaft in the end credits.

Well, yes, but as long as campus is filled with hotties, then it's like a river filled with salmon.

Just my usual troubles going to sleep and then staying asleep.

I haven't come to visit because I'm afraid that I'll get there and find that you're in Siberia. Which Greyhound station is nearest campus?
