Shine like it does
Nov. 9th, 2009 11:09 pmWoo Hoo! Con Report!
There was some confusion about my reservation at Edgefield at first, and they set me up in a gorgeous 'family room' with a king size, four bunks, a big central area, and access to a fire escape.

All the rooms have names, and interior artwork and documentation. It's kind of like a hotel museum. This is the Penney room.

This is the fancy layout of the room, and gives you an idea of how the place works and some of its architectural and artistic themes.

Here's the view outside (mmmmm) and lots of great landscape. It's nice to be back in Oregon. And I love the "Watch Your Step" sign.
Alas, it didn't last. I ended up in the hostel. Which looks more like this:

This is the social corner. It's cozy.

And this is the view from our one window over in the nook of the room. It's a very nice view, looking out onto the path from the Black Rabbit restaurant to the Power Plant pub and movie cinema.

Remember the water tower? Sure you do. It was in the last two photos. At night, it gets lit up and seeing it makes me happy.

And oh yeah. They also light up that path from the Black Rabbit. (Those lamps along the path have actual flames in them.)

This is the view out of the bath with the best view and a shower.

The grounds are full of hidden spaces, places to be discovered. Like this little courtyard.
This year was even better than last year--I knew more people, and I was more familiar with the routines and the grounds. However, I am not a hostel person. But this is a good thing to know.
