Three things. Um. Okay, four things.

Tomorrow we pack up the car, and after a quick Sarah Vowell stop off in Ypsilanti, I take my girl home to meet my mother. I'll be low profile for a few days, so if you need to reach me leave a note at the usual drop spot.

I read somewhere about home made oreos constructed from ginger snaps and cream cheese frosting and I immediately said MUST HAVE. And after consuming an entire plate full, we've come to the conclusion that the ginger may be too snappy. Perhaps tollhouse cookies instead.

Lady Jane, with Cary Elwes and Helena Bonham Carter. Four stars. I don't know how historically accurate it is, but the parts of that time that I *do* know seemed to jibe. Even though I knew how it ended (spoiler alert: not happily even if you're Mary) I was rooting for those crazy kids.

Also, I got my copy of Shreve Stockton's Daily Coyote book, and I have to say I'm disappointed. I've read about her life in New York, her foray into San Francisco, her chance stumble upon Wyoming and subsequent obsession with it that drove her from New York to become a substitute teacher in the flatlands. Then there's her hot cowboy with the finely shaped ass who lures her into his life with his simple cow-feeding ways, and then she moves into a shack on the property he owns, and WHERE'S THE DAMNED COYOTE???? I was promised one *DAILY* and there is a distinct lack of coyote thus far. I call shenanigans.

Alas, it appears she is not in fact doing a signing (which is sad because I wanted to give her the mix disc I made), but she's going to be speaking at Pease Auditorium tomorrow night. We got our tickets general admission through EMU.

We secreted a ginger-snap Oreo away from the reception, and fed it to a proper foodie. She is still analyzing the results, though she did say that the ginger was somewhat reduced in the cookies--they were more like gingerbread than ginger snaps. Will keep you posted on our efforts to reproduce them.
