Six for my sorrow
May. 14th, 2010 01:36 pmSo I'm hearing from semi-reliable sources that Supernatural is going for a sixth season.
I'm apprehensive for a couple of reasons. First, from the few episodes I've seen, fifth season seems to be God vs. The Devil. Where are they going to escalate from there?
Second, the boys both have six year contracts so they're back, but I've heard Kripke is stepping back--whether it's completely out or to McG's old executive producing spot, I don't know. Will they be able to keep the charm and atmosphere that got me watching in the first place?
Fingers crossed.

Date: 2010-05-14 05:43 pm (UTC)Just a minor point: I've seen all but the last four episodes of the season, but it's not quite God vs. The Devil. It really is as it was at the beginning, of the Archangels vs. Lucifer. God is...well, I can't really explain what God's role is in the story without spoiling more than I already have. But let's just say he's not in the picture.
The Trickster made a re-appearance towards the end of the season, and the episode was about as good as the last one he showed up in, with equal parts *SQUEE!* and drama. I think you'd like the 'how' of him showing up, too. :)

Date: 2010-05-14 05:45 pm (UTC)It seems to me that even if they keep the brothers around for next year (and I'm behind a bit on current episodes so not really capable of up-to-the-minute spoilers here), it'll be in a different direction. Does that mean going back to season-1 style boogeyman of the week? Does it become more of an anthology series that the boys drop into but aren't really the core plot drivers of? (seems unlikely) Is there a new mythology to follow? Maybe they are transmogrified into angels themselves and this becomes Highway to Heaven? dunno.
Maybe they just continue the recent escalations and come up with a new bigger, tougher boss to battle than Lilith, Lucifer, or even God.
Guess well see though...
