Maid Marian on her tiptoe feet
May. 27th, 2010 11:10 pmI started just talking about this with people I thought might be interested, and then I realised that I could save time by just inflicting it upon all of you at once.
I'm running a game, fairies and humans and technology, in 1873 London,
and I was doing some research because I wanted to know (on this
particular tangent) who the Bishop of London was at the time, and what
he was like. While I was searching, I found this article:
http://www.anglocatholicsocialism.org/dancing.html
Apparently, the CofE at the time was going through a Marian revival
and a surge of early Liberation theology in a groundswell, especially
in the poorer parts of London. I don't know if I'll get the chance to
use *any* of this in the game, but I am currently enthralled by the
idea of the Bishop (John Jackson) and this young upstart
(Headlam)--the clash of ideas, and of tradition versus innovation, or
tradition versus older tradition.
Anyway. I'm a history major, what did you expect?
