Busy Busy Night
Jun. 14th, 2010 11:08 amLast night I got to read/live-act the eight Harry Potter book, and it was actually really good. It was a lot more Neville-centric; Harry was more his Auror sidekick. It was confined mostly to what I think was one of the huge Black mansions, with sprawling extravagant grounds, and time was stuck so it was always dark. It felt a lot more Harry Dresden than the earlier books, which I thought was an interesting shift now that they were out of school, and so things started bad and got disastrous. I'm so very glad that she got herself an editor with a spine--things were tightly crafted and really clicked. There were these flying skull things which I'm pretty sure were bad, largely because they made this whistling screaming sound as they flew around (but at least they couldn't sneak up on us). We were trying very hard to find something that would stop the doomsday spell that had been accidentally started by one of the Blacks. I don't remember who I was or how it ended because I woke up too soon. It wasn't quite "Neville Longbottom and the Magical Ass-Kicking" but it was still very satisfying.
