The castle was rough. I never hit anything as unpleasant as that first room in the Tower at Ostagar, but yay for between-fights regeneration. I brought out Leilana and re-tried the back up archer thing, which went better than most fights with her, but she still went down like a sack of wet mice three or four times. (Her list of battle scars was prodigious.) At least she's not 'hostile' toward me though. The toughest battle was the kennels--I think I had total PK three times, and I'm not exactly certain what I did differently the fourth time.

I leveled up after discovering the door whose lock mocked me, so of course I took another level of lock picking and grabbed everything. So of course there was another door that we couldn't unlock later on. I don't think it's because I wasn't skilled enough though. Most of the castle was a zombie grind, and once we hit the courtyard things went pretty easily all in all. I stealthed over to the gates to let in the knights who promised they'd be waiting, and we beat the crap out of the Revenant while Sten climbed the steps and took out the archers and Leilani went down like a sack of wet mice.

Then we all charged into the great hall where I was shocked (shocked!) to discover that Connor was possessed by a demon, and Bann Teagan was under his thrall! I was a little sad about having to kill Teagan but the fella needed killin'. Luckily, it didn't hurt him. Getting killed is an excellent way to thwart thralldom, apparently. Anyway, Connor ran away because demons don't like violence. (I... what?) And after the fight, I tried to slap the crazy out of Isolde. I don't think it did any good.

We decided the best plan was to have the assassin blood mage cast a spell that would kill Isolde and send Morrigan into the Fade to attack the demon. Why not? The worst that could happen is she survives and then she hates me. We did some mopping up in the castle (pretty much anything we could think of to do besides send Morrigan into the Fade). I got schooled by a room full of empty suits of armor (Really? Does that go with the 'zombie' decor you've got going on?), took the zombie Castellan's key, and found Alistair's mother's amulet.

And then there was nothing really left to do but send Morrigan into the Fade. Good luck!

I'm fascinated that you decided to take that route to deal with Connor!

I found the Redcliffe Castle fight a complete bitch the first time through (not the least of which is because I missed the door/turn to get up to the courtyard :P), and I didn't discover the trick to open up the portcullis to let the knights in until my third run through. I iz ful of stoopids.

So go you for doing better than I did. :)

I figure that if I send Morrigan to fight the demon, she'll hate me. If I kill the kid, everybody else will hate me. That's a meta thing. IC, she really doesn't want to kill a kid and will go to stupid lengths if somebody presents a very ill-advised alternative.
(I have no idea why I can kill Teagan and he's okay but if I kill Connor he's all deadified.)

I can't remember who I was talking to that said the knights would be waiting right outside the gates but I will say I was really looking forward to getting to the courtyard. Plus, I had stealth so I let them in before combat even started.

There is another alternative, but...not sure if you didn't follow the conversations to have it presented, or chose not to take it. Also don't know if you want it spoiled of what it is. :)

I was thinking the same thing as Tersa. There *IS* a third option. I spent a good 10 minutes ranting at Peter and Eliel about how I had to choose between killing the mother or the son because there wasn't another option.

There is another option, you just have to take the right dialogue paths to get to it.

Yeah, Tersa and I worried it out. I thought they were saying "If you'd done stuff in the right order then you wouldn't have to make this awful decision. Idiot."

I thought similarly, but I got pushy once that like came up. Once it's worked out that you haven't done it in that order, you can go Do That Thing Over There That You Should Have Done First But Nothing Ever Tells You That It's A Nice Place To Go Earlier In The Game and do that thing. You're sent on your way with an admonishment to "hurry back! We don't have lots of time!" which is gloriously ironic once it's all said and done.

Yeah, I think that's the current plan. (:
"Be right back--just going to nip around the lake and fetch some magi."
I'm just a little worried that I'll come back and it still won't be an option because I told them 'no' once.
