cyrano: (Asskicking Boots)

The Fade, in my opinion, does a much better job of representing the 'dream world' than most. However? Fuckin' FIRE EVERYWHERE. All of my saves tend to be song titles or lyrics, and you should see the flaming list I have here.

I love the 'collect forms/widgets to access new areas' thing, and the backtracking required is less annoying than Kingdom Hearts was. (Now... back on Tarzan level... god damned Tarzan level... was that a blue key or a red key hidden under the bushes in... one of those clearings?)

I am finally learning that anybody who's possessed should just be killed. If they're supposed to survive, then they will. If they're not, well I'm terribly sorry about that, sir.

Occasionally, I'd run into monsters that ran up to me and didn't fight back, which makes me concerned that at the end of this mission I'll be scolded for killing dreamers who looked like DarkSpawn or something. Sod off. Oh, and where the hell are the rest of my corpse galls, damn it? I've got a mission to complete here.

Anyway. I am a mouse, and a burning man (hee), and a spirit dude. Spirit dude can see things 'hidden in the folds of the Fade' which... probably means I'm gonna have to go over all the ground I've covered to look for hidden goodies. Because so far on this trip? No loot. However, I've gotta say that the founts of Cunning are more than making up for it. Bring 'em on--it's a fair trade.

(Okay, I'm going back in.)

All right. I've hit each of the five corners once. Hopefully I won't have to do the Templar's Labyrinth again, but I'm poised now to go back and do clean up. I'm also guessing that (since I'm supposed to save my party members) those three unlabeled stars eventually open up.

And HOLY CRAP I love stealth when I'm soloing. I can open the door, sneak around the room, sneak out... or just smack somebody upside the head and start combat. Oh, speaking of abilities, I figured out quite late in the game that each of these forms also has skills. I am *so* going to miss Burny Guy's fireball (and his immunity to fire. Holy CRAP Inferno is bad news) and Floaty Guy's invisible prison thing.

The Spirit Form's invisible prison is the BEST THING EVER.

I'll note, just FYI, that no, there is no loot here. It's the Fade, the Dream World, you can't take it with you. :) (But, yes, I think the permanent stat bonuses are the make-up for that).

For the most part, the hidden stuff the Spirit Form reveals is visible and not 100% hidden; it generally presents itself as a shadowy form that you can't interact with in normal space, and I think only doors and fonts.

OTOH, I kinda hated the Fade the first three run throughs. Although not as much as [redacted].

You are correct that the three unlabeled stars will eventually open up and will have to go back through the levels to a certain extent, but fortunately, the Fade Pedestals give you a shortcut to where you left the realm the first time, (I'm pretty sure) you don't have to cover the territory you already covered, and if you do, the monsters don't re-spawn.

Gotta say that there's a few I wouldn't mind if they respawned so I could go back with my new superbuff powers and SCHOOL them.
