Florence and the Machine

It's not something I can immediately confine with a clever "It's like Band A meets Band B in a location conducive to Genre C and Band D is their waiter" metaphor, but there's guitars and synth layers, and a very strong female lead vocal.
I downloaded "You've Got the Love" and "Rabbit Heart", and since "Kiss With a Fist" isn't available for free download, I may find it and spring for the $1 download on iTunes. "Postcards from Italy" is a departure from the rest of the cuts on this page--acoustic guitar solo. I'm not sure I like it, but it certainly kept my attention.

There's a keen interview with her on youtube (or there was, can't find it now) where she does "My Boy Builds Coffins live, in a park, with her two guys, the one of whom that does precussion is pretty much playing anything within range (bench, fence, sticks). Apparently she started off with training for gospel singing. ♥

If I like the track and can pay a reasonable price ('reasonable price' includes the labor costs of making it a usable format with excised DRM) then I do try to pay for it. But covers are a different thing. (:

And speaking of covers, oh my. Amazon just showed me "Addicted to Love".
(Have you heard Bat for Lashes? They think that if I like Florence + the Machine I should really dig her/them.)

XD I heard a Bat for Lashes song in a store and came home and looked it up by the lyrics online, found it on youtube, and one of the recs from youtube was Florence + the Machine. That's how I found 'em. XD (The Bat for Lashes song was "Daniel", if that makes a difference... kinda 80s-ish. I like.)

I found it. I was surprised that it wasn't Depeche Mode (or even Foo Fighters or NIN), and it all worked out in the end. (:
