Dragon Age--Save Early, Save Often

Left the Tower, ran a side quest or two, managed to squeeze in a couple of TPKs discovering the true nature of various encounters. Did a lot of running around places I'd already been with the Tab key pressed down and found a *lot* of crap.
I met a couple of uncommunicative new friends in Redcliffe who didn't want to talk to me, and got my reward from the blacksmith. Went through the dungeons, up into the castle, and... accidentally triggered a 'no way out' mortal combat with Connor the demon. Of course there's no 'knock him out' option, so I sighed and said 'screw it, I'll kill him and get this over with so I can restart'.
But then! He totally wasn't dead! He just whined on and on about how much it hurt and there was this twenty minute interminable scene of me listening to his mother whine on and on about how it's totally not fair and he's just a baby and there was no conversation option for 'slap the person whose fault this whole mess is'. And then, apparently despite Irving being RIGHT DOWNSTAIRS and me *saying* 'there are other options we can try you know' our little martyr was forced to kill her only son right there in front of me and then there was *more* interminable scene and I think I blacked out at some point and when I woke up I'd gouged my own eyes out.

*sigh* So now I'm going back and doing it again. But I opened my first prestige class! Yay!
EDIT: And oh yeah! I adopted a Crow.
