Pretty things are going to Hell

This appears to be the weekend where everything goes to crap. I've been working extensively the past two months, and was looking forward to my first day off.
So on Wednesday night I got sick. I called into work and lost a day's wages, which pains me greatly. And then I cancelled my flight plans for Thursday--a trip to Seattle that I'd been plotting for about a month--due to (a) the aforementioned sickness (b) the adverse effect a pressurized air cabin has on sinus congestion (c) the fact that taking a pleasure flight on an evening I called in sick would likely not shine well on those I work for.
The high point of the weekend was a nice and spicy breakfast with Princess Mei--hunan beef and hot/sour soup to clean out the sinuses.
Snuffled through an impromptu video night hosting, which for various reasons was disappointing, abandoning my guests in the midst of an episode of Aaron Spelling's magnum opus in the gothic arena.
And thus I awake this morning, filled with mucus, exhausted and hoping to be well enough by three-thirty tomorrow morning, planning to just hide out here in the home all day, wrapped in blankets and drinking lots of water.

I can't quite place the melody, so I'll have to mentally substitute the "Ode to Joy" from Beethoven's Ninth Symphony, as performed in Help!.

Hm. But now I can remember how Rule Brittania starts. And I'll be damned if I can think of where it puts in an appearance. I can hum the opening of it for you when I pick up September later on.
