About living 'on the East Coast'. Things are all smooshed together, which comes into sharp relief when you say something flippant like "You guys don't have anything planned for All Hallow's Weekend, let's go to DC for the Rally to Restore Sanity," and they think for a moment and say "OK" and then suddenly you have hotel reservations.

As opposed to here, where it took the Viking 3 days to get from our house to Portland. One full day's driving, just to get out of Arizona, South to North.
