About living 'on the East Coast'. Things are all smooshed together, which comes into sharp relief when you say something flippant like "You guys don't have anything planned for All Hallow's Weekend, let's go to DC for the Rally to Restore Sanity," and they think for a moment and say "OK" and then suddenly you have hotel reservations.

Despite the Red Wings being in the Western Conference, this is comparatively east coast from California for me. (: I can easily get to the ocean in a day of (reasonable speed) driving.
