cyrano: (Pounce!)
[personal profile] cyrano
As a public service announcement, I say that thanks to the beneficence of tersa and ebonlock I plan to be back in the bay area for about a week around the 21st of December. Hurrah!

And now here is a quick summary of two weeks of cameraphone pictures!

This photo is from our trip to not go to the Aquarium. Instead we drove out onto Oceanview and admired the coast line. This was my second time to fail to find Lover's Point or Lover's Leap or whichever it was.

Then we went to Ashland. You've read the reports. Only a couple of photos from that.

This is Amanda admiring the lovely view from a restaurant just off Lithia Park--the Sesame or the Tamarind or some sort of food item.

We took it into our heads on one of our quieter days to dash off to Crater Lake--Anne and I had visited before, which was the first time in some thirty years that I'd been there. I'm only throwing up a handful of them here.

We stopped at a riverside eatery with a gorgeous view so of course I forgot to take any pictures there. However, just down the road was a pullover overlooking the Rogue. Amanda admired those too.

Then we got into the national forest and went exploring. The whole place smelled of pine needles and bark warmed by the sun, and evergreens. It smelled like summer and childhood to me, one of the outdoor excursions with my brother and father. I'd never been this far up the river, nearly to the source.

We got up to Crater Lake, and I found an observation point as soon as I could. This picture postcard quality shot was Amanda's, and I am jealous of it.

We got up to the Lodge, and I was eager to get down to the little view station that had been closed for snow last time. Alas, it appears that during the summer it closes at four for some reason. However, there were still plenty of amazing vantage points. We couldn't stay long--we'd taken a leisurely drive and had an evening performance to get to--but I thought it was well worth the trip.

This is a shot from outside my class up to Highland Lakes. I saw the little harvest window garden, and I tried to catch that with the bird feeder equipped with the little feed cones on top of it. I think I nearly got it, but not quite.

After jaunting down to the math lab today (which was at least a start) I saw this burst of color on the path. The last of fall's blooms, I expect. The leaves tangled up in the flowers, and the leaves scattered all around, this photo is one of the closest I've taken with the phone that looks like what I saw in my head.
