When things calm down a little and I'm less insane, I would be interested to hear people's thoughts on John Kessel's "Every Angel is Terrifying". (The quote is from Rilke and I like it a lot.)

I'd recommend Phillip K. Dick's VALIS.

Is this because it reminds you of Rilke, or because it has kittens in it?

Because Dick does a better job of making you wonder about the narrator's sanity and doesn't make it look like a Dallas plot twist.

Excellent! Although I probably don't have time for another short story until... maybe a couple of weeks from now, I'll track it down. It may even be in my Best Of volume.

It's a good bit over two hundred pages, so that seems unlikely. Certainly worth seeking out, however. Your Local Library ought to have a copy.
