cyrano: (Haring DJ)
[personal profile] cyrano
Many many years ago, l2g and I rocked the airwaves with The Screaming Axolotl Show (and occasionally guest shots on Panic Station or other shows). While I was back in California, just before I left, I looked at Stanford's community radio set up, but I was too busy losing my job to get really involved, and I let it fall along the wayside.

After.... far too many hours, I have navigated live365.com, and I think I understand it well enough to start Vitamin Cyrano, Radio where 'eclectic' is just another four letter word. Right now it's a ninety-minute Christmas programme, but it looks like I could put together a five or six hour runthrough.

I'm currently on the 'one free week' plan, so if you check it out and have any comments, please do let me know. Um. Something about getting a microphone and doing *actual* DJ work, but I'm too tired and hungry to formulate actual thoughts. I'm gonna split now, but remember--if you're listening when "Oi to the World" is playing, you're in the drawing for the big Vitamin Cyrano Listener Lottery!

Sweet! There's fun Christmas stuff I haven't heard on your station. :)

And I'm in the drawing as of now. :)

Yay! I have a listener!
If I keep this, I'll have to see if I can get you and J to do ID's for me. "Hi, this is famous published author scarywhitegirl, and you're listening to Vitamin Cyrano Radio."

I can't promise to be a regular listener. I just had some desk work to do first thing this morning, and my office-mate was not in yet. Until I find headphones that totally do not offend my ears in some way, I usually only get about an hour a day of listening to music, at most.

"A listener" implies, to me, somebody who at one point listens. That's enough to make me happy. (:
Plus, with only ninety minutes (or even six hours) of programming, I expect it could get repetitive quickly if I didn't ride the content pretty hard.

I would have expected it would be the Justin Timberlake hit that would serve as the token for entry into the lottery.

While "Dick in a Box" will become a Christmas classic, "Oi to the World" has chops, and has already earned its place among the venerable.

Timberlake's tune struck me as more of a Valentine's hit, personally.

I can see that. But for me, with it referencing not just Christmas but Kwanza and Channukah, it's definitely eligible as holiday music.
