Drive Thru RPG is selling Battle Star Galactica and Serenity products at significant (75%) discount. It sounds like Margaret Weis Productions is getting out of the PDF market, possibly something more drastic. Anyway.

I own the Serenity core book, although I haven't used it. I can get the BSG core PDF for $10. There are Serenity and BSG supplements for $5 or so. Have you played either of these games? Would you consider them worth the money?

Stage three is figuring out whether I'd actually play them or not.

We own the Serenity core book as well, and haven't played it. But the attributes that I use for my Firefly games are taken from that book, along with the suggestions for abilities. Beyond that, I can tell you nothing about the system. :)

But I might check out the supplements just to see if any of them are more setting related than system related. Because really, I use the setting. I have my own system, which involves paying as little attention to the system as possible. ;)

I have used the Serenity core book, but mostly as a reference. I haven't used the system itself, as when I was reading over it, I was unimpressed. I also found the examples to be extremely limited.

I may end up getting the BSG core for reference as well (thanks for the heads up). I'm also interested to know what people think of it.

I found Serenity to be a better solution for Space Opera than, for example, Thousand Suns. I wouldn't suggest it if you're planning a rules-heavy hard sci-fi game, but for character driven space opera, I think it's adequate.
