This is my new shitty work schedule effective 3 October:
Thursday Friday Saturday and Sunday, eight to four-thirty.
That'll be 32 hours a week. I can probably pick up an extra day every week by hustling my co-workers.
However, work is now offering to pay $63 a month toward public transportation if I surrender my parking pass which they pay for. That will probably make it worth the extra two hours or so I'd spend commuting.
Now all I have to do is find out the most convenient way to get to the train station from my house, and if I'd be allowed to use the BART SFO train now that CalTrain has cancelled their Millbrae shuttle.

Why, yes, that *is* a shitty work schedule.

Caltrain:
Parking is $10 monthly when buying a monthly Caltrain pass. Park under the Crossings condo complex (first floor is Caltrain parking), which is at San Antonio (and serves the San Antonio station).

It looks like the Caltrain to SFO link is via BART, which adds another $1.50. ($5.25 total one-way). In addition, Caltrain is running busses rather than trains on weekends.

My awful suggestion is looking into SamTrans routes, especially the expresses from Palo Alto to SFO. Then, drive and park in Palo Alto (Stanford shopping center) and take the KX Express bus up (6:38am PA -> 7:28am SFO). It runs 7 days a week, and even the Sunday schedule works ( http://www.transitinfo.org/Sched/SM/KX/ ).

My other awful suggestion is that morning traffic might not be too bad, and that giving up your parking pass may not be ideal. Afternoons will suck.

I think that there's no way to give up your car, though.

I hate my life.
But I may be able to take advantage of the fact that I'm an employee of City of San Francisco and get back to school, which would fail to suck.
More news as it happens.

The Good news: You can use public transportation half the days.
The Saturday/Sunday commute wouldn't suck

The Bad news: No public transportation on weekend.
The Weekday commute in a car would suck.

My conclusion:
I probably wouldn't give up the parking pass. Not only would you be spending an extra two hours commuting using public transportation, you would also be spending more time commuting on weekends.

I think keeping the parking pass and sucking up longer commutes 2 days out of 4 is the way to go.

Shit. I'd forgotten the weekend thing. And by this spring, when they expect to be done, I'll have a different bid.
And paying for parking two days a week is not an option.
