Princess, you might like it
Jan. 1st, 2005 07:10 pmMy manic burst is definitely over. But it was kind of fun while it lasted. And today's dinner was fresh fruit, raw vegetables, home made bread and... a Coke, which I referred to as 'my weekly dose of black poison'. And I think it is getting back down to once a week. I have a flat of V8 in the car, but I forgot to grab a can before coming inside.
The new position seems to be giving me more time to read; I finally finished The Free Fall of Webster Cummings, which Ambar bought me as a Christmas gift. It's a Tom Bodet book, and I usually describe him as 'like Garrison Keillor, but funny'. This book was not his usual style--less funny, and more Keillor. Folsky, homespun tales of just folks. Plus, there's a lot happening here that's not going on in Alaska, where most of his books take place. It was a good read, and a comfortable one, and he made a sly reference to his Motel 6 job which made me laugh out loud. But the second one just seemed like a bit much.
Almost done with Reservation Blues, which I'm liking a lot, but I'm a big sucker for Rez Books, and young men trying to live between the Indians they see on television or read about in Newage books and the ones they see every day and the lives they live. Plus it's got Robert Johnson in it, and I'm also a sucker for that sort of story.
Still seeing very little of anybody, and so I'm looking forward to tomorrow when I get to see the housemate and the neighbor and the ex. And maybe doing laundry.
