So now that certain state legislatures have allowed us to study the deist creation theory of the universe in public schools, I am assuming that hot upon its heels will come the assurance that we can also study the scientific theories of the terracentric solar system and the even more revolutionary 'Here There Be Dragyns' Flat Earth Hypothesis.
The sooner these church-sanctioned and god-approved theories are taught in our public schools, the sooner the idiofication process can begin and the sooner our public schools are completely useless, which will pretty much make the spending of federal moneys on private faith-based education mandatory in the form of a voucher system.

EDIT: Also, something that bugs me (I know, I'm such an easy going guy, I'm sure you thought nothing bothers me). Why the hell is 'It's a pre-existing condition' a valid excuse not to cover medical treatment that otherwise would be covered by insurance?

And on a completely different note, I was wondering after some of Moses' comments, how generally often people recognize the song quotes in the titles and, more specifically, how often people come down with a case of lyricosis* after reading my entries. Please be honest; this *is* for science.

*Lyricosis--the medical condition of having a song stuck in one's head.
Also:unrelated. The condition of misremembering musical lyrics, often to humorus result.

I spotted the Aimee Mann one, and one or two of the others.

Van Halen, above, is Known To Me. I scrolled through two pages of your journal, and found I easily recognize about a third, but find the fraction suspect; there are stretches that are too obscure and I don't get any for a couple weeks, and there are stretches where we are resonant and each title is clear. And engaging.

So. Data point.

Oh, er, sorry. And, yes, the song will generally "play" in my head, but only Prince has gotten stuck there, largely because the man has more sense memory for me than just the sounds.

Ditto on both counts. =)

I tend to recognize most of the quotes, but it doesn't get the song "stuck" in my head often. That happens mostly when it's a song that I am very familiar with, in which case I can usually fix the problem by listening to the song in question or by listening to something jarring enough to dislodge it. :-)

Sadly, your music tastes are divers enough that most of the time, I don't recognize the quotes. Unsurprisingly. :)

I will say this, and it may provide you with some comfort. Going back, many times, and looking at my subject lines without the music playing in my head often means that I will stare blankly at the snippet and say 'I have no idea where that is from, but I like the words'.

I'm still trying to figure this one out myself. My experiences with that sort of bullshit the last 6 months (I'm _still_ getting new bills from freaking February!) have sorely embittered me against the whole medical establishment. I was pretty neutral to positive before. If you do figure it out, though, please let us all know!

Caredhel has informed me that German has an excellent word for such a thing, they call it (spelled phonetically, hilighting my illiteracy) an ur-vurm, meaning "ear worm".

I *think* the word for ear is 'o:hr' and thus, given their pragmatic approach to word construction.... o:hrwurm. (:
And it just makes me think of Wrath of Khan.

Recognize lyrics? Sometimes. Get earworm? Rarely.

Please forgive me if I thought of Lee Press-On and the Nails before Van Halen. :-)

Well, I didn't say which of them was in my head. (:

Don't often get songs stuck in my head because I'm usually listening to music all day, I can just change the CD and have something new blaring and poisoning the ear-worm. I have been known to walk around humming "Que Sera, Sera" and "I'm So Ronery" as well as "No Sleep Till Brooklyn", though.

If you don't think this process is already well underway, you are sorely mistaken and invite you to go observe a public school classroom of your choice.

Despite my latest problem, I still think all insurance is a scam. (Especially since my adjuster refuses to answer my phone calls.)

I did say 'completely' instead of 'mostly'. Having survived public school with three brain cells intact, I know of which I speak.
